Like many mining families, the young Cooper family moved frequently before settling down.  In 1900, they moved from Syracuse Ohio to somewhere in the New River Area. Around 1906 they moved to Cedar Grove.  From there, they moved to Boomer and then to Marting finally building a home at nearby Bullpush Hollow in Cannelton.
