The Hatfields owned a stake in the Simms-Hatfield saloon.  Elias and Troy Hatfield who worked as mine guards and railroad men locally didn’t take kindly when Carl Hansen opened a competing saloon in Cannellton at discount prices with delivery that catered to the Italian community.  (Cavalier, Various Period Newspapers)
